International ITS Conference & Expo 2008 Shanghai to be Held in October


Exhibition and Conference Combined to Serve World Expo 2010

SHANGHAI, China, Sept. 22 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- With the development of urbanization and motorization, cities in many countries are facing "urban diseases" such as traffic jam, environment pollution, shortage of resources, etc. As a significant part of the concept of "sustainable development", sustainable transport aims to realize the harmonious development of transport, economy, resources and environment and it is becoming the basic strategy for the healthy development of modern cities. World Expo 2010 will attract an audience of millions. To ease the huge pressure on transport generated by World Expo 2010, an intensive and highly efficient transport system must be established. International ITS Conference & Expo 2008 Shanghai, organized by Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd., will be held in Shanghaimart Expo from Oct. 15 to 17, 2008. The event is supported by the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, ITS China, the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, Shanghai Municipal Construction and Transportation Commission, and Shanghai Municipal Informatization Commission. At the same time, INTERPARKING SHANGHAI 2008 will also be staged. The theme of the event is "ITS with World Expo 2010 & Yangtze River Delta Transport Information Integration" and exhibitors include relevant technology and equipment suppliers from countries and regions such as Germany, Great Britain, Belgium, Italy, USA, Canada, Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Taking the opportunity of massive transport infrastructure upgrade during the World Expo, the exhibition aims to let relevant organizations, enterprises and people at home and abroad know more about the latest progress, to display the up-to-date trends in the ITS research, development and construction made by competent authorities in Shanghai for World Expo, and to summarize the achievement and experience in transport information integration in the Yangtze River Delta. As a result, a rare exchange and cooperation platform will be provided for the ITS development in Shanghai and China and a favorable atmosphere will be created for the staging of Shanghai World Exposition.

The ITS projects, navigation systems, GPS vehicle dispatch management and geographic information systems, as well as modernized IT technologies and products in relation to transport information collection, processing, releasing, etc. will be exhibited in the event. Many well-known enterprises such as Shanghai Electric Science Intelligent System Co., Ltd., Changjiang Computer (Group) Company, Bocom Group, Shanghai Tanway and Canada VERRUS Inc. will come to the event. Meanwhile, FIA Foundation and the exhibitors from IS associations in Europe, Italy, Canada, Korea, etc. will take their self-developed high technologies and products, and will also present the latest solutions for urban ITS, which will no doubt highlight the exhibition. In order to support the pilot construction of the non-stop toll system on the highways in the Yangtze River Delta Region, Changjiang Group, one of the top 100 enterprises in the electronic industry of China, will show its latest Electronic Toll Collection System (ETC), which features high transaction speed, narrow receiving band, strong anti-interference ability and capability of allowing the vehicles through the toll station at high speed. Canada VERRUS Inc. will exhibit the parking reservation and payment system targeting the mobile users.

Shanghai Media Group Digital & Mobile Transmission Company, the vanguard in Chinese digital audio-frequency & data broadcasting, is the first to lead Shanghai into the era of mobile broadcasting of digital audio-frequency and data. During the exhibition, navigation equipment such as digital broadcasting system, transport information real-time navigation system, etc. will be displayed. The former features high transmission quality, more program channels, clear image, low cost and less fault, while the latter can transmit the real-time information on the roads and evade transport jam by combining relatively static map navigation.

Shanghai Electric Science Intelligent System Co., Ltd., as a flagship enterprise in the electrical equipment industry in China, will present the equipment, "comprehensive transport information platform" during the exhibition. This equipment is expected to ease traffic congestions, reduce gas consumption and guarantee safe driving, so as to achieve the harmony between drivers, cars and roads.

The FIA Foundation, an organization long devoted to the promotion of road safety, energy saving and provision of financial support, will introduce the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) Simulator to the audiences, providing them a chance to apprehend the significance of electronic security technology upon the traffic security. This equipment is believed to be capable of reducing thousands of fatal car accidents every year.

Deutsche Telecom AG is supposed to come up with the successful cases of intelligent traffic construction and operation in 2002 Germany World Cup and 2004 Athens Olympics to bring some ideas to the traffic construction of Shanghai World Expo.

Also on the exhibition will be some technology and products related to parking industry, such as state-of-the-art intelligent parking equipment, matching parts, parking management system, security facilities, road parking management facilities, software development and service, etc. XIZI-IUK, YEE-FUNG Industry Equipment Ltd., Hangzhou Good Friend Precision Machinery Co., Ltd, Carling Electronics, Klaus and other flagship enterprises are expected to show off their up-to-date products.

During the exhibition, the host will also display the newly issued Shanghai Comprehensive Passenger Transportation Terminal Layout and Shanghai Central City District Parking Lots (Garage) Plan, etc, in order to provide exhibitors and audiences a deep insight into 2010 World Expo, Shanghai Comprehensive Transportation Development Plan and nudge them to take an active part in the construction of World Expo Intelligent Traffic and Parking Projects. In addition, the host will hold the "International Forum on Intelligent Traffic System" with the theme of "Intelligent Traffic, Excellent World Expo" in the conference room on the second floor of Shanghai Mart on October 15. The discussion will focus on "World Expo and Development of Urban Intelligent Traffic".
