The Passenger Information System (PIS) in Beijing Metro Line 4 is powered by Digital Media Group (DMG), which has had many years of experience providing PIS services in subways of cities like Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The PIS in Beijing Metro Line 4 is a breakthrough in terms of information dissemination and security & protection. It covers the entire Metro Line, providing guidance and information services to passengers. It is able to transmit real-time information and even broadcast live television inside of the train. Even when the train is running through tunnels, the subway control station is able to deliver real-time information to the passengers; in times of delay or accidents, passengers are able to react promptly according to the real-time information they receive from the LCD display screens. When a train breaks down or there is an emergency, the control center is able to know what is happening by looking at images from surveillance videos installed in the train compartments inside the tunnels. Likewise, the dissemination of information regarding emergencies and operations will be more timely and precise. Information on train arrival times and transfers will be more accessible, and entrance and exit transfer platforms will be more convenient due to PIS. Moreover, passengers will be able to have information about the locations and directions of peripheral facilities via the display screens. The latest PIS system is timely, modifiable, directionally oriented and can be broadcast live. It is specifically designed for passengers, who will be able to experience its innovative digital services by simply watching the display screens while riding on Line 4 trains.

Passenger Information System (PIS)

The management software of PIS is based on a customized LINUX embedded system. The operation of this system has many advantages -- high reliability and stability, high safety, easy expandability, and simple maintenance -- and specifically pinpoints broadcast embedded systems making audio-visual broadcasts smoother and more detailed.

PIS is a stable and reliable system with fast and safe storage, retrieval and transmission of data, easily expandable modular system management, and simplicity in overall operations. Full control is exercised by the Control Center managing the subsystems at each station and each train, customizing multi-media contents employing artificial intelligence, adjusting the systems of related subway transit station platforms and control centers, selecting via artificial intelligence the contents of information to be broadcast; changing the type and method of the broadcasting of the customized multi-media information, and transmitting specified information to specified groups of people at pre-determined times.
