Michael Malik Appointed New General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel and Marriott Executive Apartments at Tomorrow Square Shanghai

SHANGHAI, April 1 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Mr. Michael Malik has been appointed the new General Manager of the JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai and Marriott Executive Apartments at Tomorrow Square, effective immediately.

In addition to an impressive career in the Marriott group throughout Mainland China and Hong Kong, Michael has also been chairing the Greater Shanghai Business Council for Marriott Hotels since 2008; his most recent role was General Manager at the Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel.

Prior to this, Michael has held general manager roles at the Beijing Marriott Hotel West and JW Marriott Hotel Chongqing. With a strong background in operations, his expertise lies in providing effective leadership in the areas of operations, yield management and branding. Michael has also been involved in the re-branding of the Yangtze New World Hotel Shanghai into China's first Renaissance brand in 2000 while he was in charge of rooms operations, and he also established the Beijing Marriott Hotel West as the first full service Marriott hotel in Beijing, where he was promoted to his first general manager's role.

During his 16 year career with Marriott, Michael has received numerous awards recognizing his contributions including "Most Improved Market Share - General Manager's Conference" in 2005 and "Mustang Award - General Manager's Conference" in 2007.

As a member of the Chaine des Rotisseures, Shanghai Michael finds time to appreciate fine food and wine and is also known as motorcycle lover, in particular Harley Davidsons.
