HONG KONG, June 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2011 -- one of Asia's top three fine jewellery events -- opens today. Organised by UBM Asia Ltd (www.ubmasia.com), the fair features around 1,600 international exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, and will run until 26 June at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Jime Essink, President and CEO of UBM Asia said: "We are delighted that the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair hits a new record high of 1,600 exhibitors this year, a 25% rise on 2010. This further confirms that jewellers around the world recognise the value of joining the June Fair."
Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs, UBM Asia Ltd said: "The June Fair is an important event in the trade show calendar. To mitigate the risk of holding too much stock, buyers prefer to make more frequent sourcing trips. This propels the growth of the June Fair which presents buyers with the opportunity to source from quality suppliers from around the world every mid-year."
11 group pavilions including Antwerp, Brazil, India, the International Colored Gemstones Association, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, mainland China, Taiwan and Thailand participate in the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair. There are also 12 themed pavilions: Fine Design Pavilion, Fine Gem Pavilion, Hong Kong Premier Pavilion, Jadeite Gallery, Fine Jewellery, Antique & Vintage Jewellery, Silver and Stainless Steel Jewellery, Diamonds, Pearls, Gemstones, Mounting Jewellery and Jewellery Accessories, and Packaging, Tools & Equipment. The clear product sectorisation further facilitates visitors to source for their desired products.
The Fine Design Pavilion and Fine Gem Pavilion -- two of the highlights of the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, UBM Asia's flagship jewellery fair which is also the world's largest international jewellery fair -- lend themselves to the fair's June edition as added attractions. The pavilions feature more than 50 internationally renowned jewellers with a tantalising spread of the world's finest loose diamonds, pearls, gemstones, jewellery masterpieces, bejewelled watches, invaluable antique and estate jewellery at the Grand Hall of the HKCEC.
A series of jewellery parades will be staged at the Hong Kong Premier Pavilion (HKPP) for visitors, where models will present jewellery designs from HKPP exhibitors. A press conference is held on 23 June to announce the details of the First International Gem Cutting & Jewellery Design Competition -- "IU Awards", jointly organised by UBM Asia and the International Color Gemstone Association (ICA). The Gemmological Association of Hong Kong (GAHK) is organising a seminar on "Tips for Buying Fei Cui (Jadeite Jade, Kosmochlor and Omphacite)" on 25 June. Two well-known pearl auctions: The 4th Gerdau Pearl Auction and The 52nd Robert Wan Tahiti Perles Auction will be held from 20-22 June and 23-24 June respectively.
