"RAIL ASIA 2013 is a high level industry platform catered to Asia's fast growing demand for rail transportation. We have seen that even with the advent of road transportation all over the world, trains continue to play a significant role in providing a systematic and efficient mode to transport goods and people.  In fact, over the last decade, the role of rail transportation had increased significantly with rapid urban development in Asian Cities," said Dato' Seri Prof. Ir. Dr. Judin Abdul Karim, Chief Executive, Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia.

Rail development in Asia is on a fast track as a result of the rapid urban migration, growth and density of cities and connectivity among the countries. Malaysia, in particular, has embarked upon a RM36.6 billion Mass Rapid Transit and multi-Electrified Double Tracking projects that will transform and improve mobility.

RAIL ASIA 2013 is an integrated rail industry event that will be the single most important stop for industry professionals in the region to get up to speed on what's new in rail development. It will include an international exhibition, a major international conference, business networking events and technology symposiums.

"The RAIL ASIA 2013 Exhibition will bring together the biggest industry players to showcase a comprehensive range of technology and services on rail infrastructure, rail technology, rail revenue management, tunneling and rail services," said Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Ahmad Mustaffa Babjee, Chairman, UBM Malaysia.

The 2-day RAIL ASIA Conference is expected to be the largest forum for the rail industry in the region and will address key policy and operational issues in the region. Over 300 top decision makers are expected to gather and learn and interact with industry speakers and role players. The Conference will include a special keynote and covers private sector participation in rail development, financing and funding, multi-modal transportation hub, designing passenger friendly rail station and case studies.

Over 3,000 delegates and trade visitors representing Government & Regulators, Rail Operators, Contractors, City Planners, Designers, Consultants, Engineers, Security/Safety Management and Facility/Maintenance Managers from the Asian region are expected at RAIL ASIA 2013.
