Ma Zhenchuan Meets with Verbruggen

BEIJING, June 11 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Ma Zhenchuan, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal CPC (Communist Party of China) Committee, director of Beijing Public Security Bureau and deputy head of the coordination group for security of the Beijing Olympic Games, met with Hein Verbruggen, visiting Chairman of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) Coordination Commission for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games last Thursday.

Ma expressed his appreciation for Mr. Verbruggen's care and support for the security work of the Beijing Olympic Games and told the guest that the work is underway as planned. His group will continue to readjust the program to ensure efficient, smooth and convenient security services for the spectators, members of the national delegations and the media.

Mr. Verbruggen was briefed on the security schemes for the competition venues and the Olympic Green. He positively evaluated the progress achieved so far and believed that the Beijing coordination group will fulfill its goals.

Present at the meeting were Li Binghua, executive vice-president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and Gilbert Felli, IOC Olympic Games executive director.
