SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Maxthon International, the developer of popular browsers Maxthon 3 and Maxthon Mobile for Android, announced today that industry-standard benchmark tests show Maxthon 3 is almost twice as fast as Microsoft's soon to be released Internet Explorer 9.

Maxthon put the two browsers through a battery of tests that measure browser speed and compatibility, where Maxthon 3 performed common browser tasks, such as executing JavaScript functions, in approximately half the time needed by I.E. 9. The tests include: CelticKane, V8 version 6, Sunspider 0.91, Kraken 1.0 and Peacekeeper.
Chen attributed the Maxthon 3's speed to a lightning fast javascript interpreter, the fastest rendering engine out there -- WebKit -- and Maxthon's superior core code. (Maxthon 3 also retains the Trident engine for rendering older Web pages.)
