Maxthon Mobile 4-Point Scrolling Adds Another Dimension to Smart Phone Navigation

2011-05-13 05:01 1968

SAN FRANCISCO, May 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Maxthon added a new paradigm to smart phone navigation today with its newest version of Maxthon Mobile for Android - 4-Point Scrolling. Now, instead of being limited to paging up and down (North and South) Maxthon Mobile users can scroll and page through all points of the compass.

"It's a simple, 'why didn't everyone do that earlier' addition that will have a big impact. Adding left and right paging will soon be a default part of *all* smart phone browsing," Maxthon CEO Jeff Chen said. "Watch and see... Remember where you first saw it."

4-Point scrolling also has benefits for developers creating apps and websites across handsets and tablets in the Android ecosystem. With the right approach this can make mobile browsing easier and faster by offering a new navigational layer for android-optimized Apps and websites.

4-Point scrolling makes one-handed mobile browsing much easier. "Most of the time, most smart phone handsets are operated in vertical mode," said Karl Mattson, GM of Maxthon International. "In that mode the distance required to scroll right to left vs. up and down is usually about half that of up and down. That puts one-handed browsing within everyone's grasp. Pun intended."

It also means tablet apps developed using book-style paging can be used more easily on smart phones. "Long term," says Karl Mattson, "This is good for the Android developer community. Especially when you consider that, by some estimates, approximately 40,000,000 Android tablets will be in use within the next 2 years."

The new version of Maxthon Mobile with 4-Point scrolling and free cloud services offers Android users the fastest browsing experience that can be found on a smart phone.
