SYDNEY, February 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Already loaded with features, offering exceptional fuel efficiency, a spacious interior, easy-to-drive manoeuvrability and sporty lines, now awarded with Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) five-star safety; Mitsubishi Motors' all-new Mirage really does have it all.

Launched in January 2013 the all-new Mirage on sale at more than 200 Mitsubishi Motors dealerships Australia-wide delivers outstanding environmental and drive performance in a fun, safe and sporty design with all the features you need.

MMAL's CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said the all-new Mirage is engineered for five-star safety and is designed to meet the needs of customers who want fuel efficient cars which are stylish and comfortable and deliver driveability and exceptional safety.

"The Mirage is now a complete package, an affordable nimble city car that offers five-star safety, easy to drive manoeuvrability, four doors and plenty of interior space, seating for five and outstanding fuel economy. We have seen a positive start to sales with customers taking advantage of our great launch pricing and AU$1000 gift card offer which we will continue through February."

Five-star safety
The Mirage uses Mitsubishi's RISE safety body design to provide an impact-absorbing front end in addition to high-rigidity cabin structure. Clever structural design and extensive use of high-tensile steel panelling provides impact energy absorption to minimise the effects of any collision.

Standard equipment in Mitsubishi Mirage includes a range of standard safety systems with six SRS airbags (driver and front passenger, side and curtain), ABS with Electronic Brake force Distribution and Active Stability Control which works to maintain stability and prevent loss of control while cornering. Emergency Brake Assist works to maximise braking force when a collision is imminent.

Intelligent seat belt reminders warn the driver and passenger to fasten their seat belt at all times while the vehicle is in motion. The Mirage crash test shows that dual seat belt pre-tensioners activate when a collision is imminent and help maintain the occupant in position so that injury can be minimised. Seat belt force limiters assist by reducing the amount of energy transferred from the vehicle structure to the occupants during a collision.

The front bumper, headlamps, engine hood and the fenders all use an energy-absorbing design to minimise leg injuries in the event of a pedestrian collision. In addition, energy-absorbing cowl top and wipers mitigate any head injury the pedestrian might receive.

Front seats with vertically adjustable head restraints have been designed to reduce the possibility of whiplash injury occurring in the event of a rear collision

For child seat installation there are three tether anchors and two Iso-Fix rear seat child restraints.

Positive start to sales

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited's return to the light car segment saw the all-new Mirage record 534 sales since 23 January.

With total January sales of 4,449 units, MMAL recorded one of the best January results since becoming a full importer in 2008 with Mirage making a positive impact during its first nine days.

Drive-away launch pricing and Westfield gift card continues into February.

Priced from just AU$12,990, with a AU$1,000 bonus gift card, the Mirage proves that fun-to-drive affordability is not a mirage.
