Power of Film Gala 2014

HONG KONG, Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Moet & Chandon and FilmAid Asia are pleased to announce the date of the 2014 Power of Film Gala.  On Saturday 22nd March 2014, notables from the film, fashion, finance and entertainment industries will unite at the Clearwater Bay Film Studios to celebrate FilmAid's 15th Anniversary and to honour humanitarian filmmaker, Ruby Yang.

For its third year, the 2014 Power of Film Gala is co-chaired by FilmAid Asia Board Directors Claire Melwani and Levina Li-Cadman and Moet Hennessy Diageo HK Managing Director Shaine De Venny. The evening's Honorary Co-chair is FilmAid Global Artist Council member, actor director Donnie Yen.  Moet & Chandon again shows their invaluable support of FilmAid Asia as the presenting partner of the fundraising gala. Together, they have had the honour of inviting actors Keanu Reeves and Uma Thurman to personally pay tribute to honorary directors, Duncan Jepson and Lixin Fan at this charity event in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Proceeds from the gala will be used to support FilmAid Asia's programmes, while also funding FilmAid's broader mission. This will include skills training in story-telling and film production, partnerships with NGOs and local community based organisations, group screenings of educational and inspirational films and addressing issues pertinent to the Asia region - such as land mine awareness and the trafficking of men, women and children.

"With Moet & Chandon's loyal support last year's Power of Film Gala was a great success, raising HK$3.2 million and bringing renowned figures from the entertainment industry together to support FilmAid Asia's initiatives in the region," says Claire Melwani, Board of Directors, FilmAid Asia and co-chair of the gala. "We look forward to repeating that success this year as we celebrate FilmAid's 15th Anniversary, honour Ruby Yang and raise funds for our work in Asia."
