COPENHAGEN, Denmark and FREMONT, California, November 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Napatech, the world's leading vendor of intelligent network adapters, and Procera Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PKT), the global network intelligence company, has announced a demonstration of an 80 Gbps Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) solution. The demonstration showcases how the combined technologies of Procera's Network Application Visibility Library (NAVL) OEM DPI software engine and Napatech's intelligent network adapters can be used by OEM vendors to build flexible, application-aware network traffic capture, inspection and analysis appliances based on standard servers.

"The performance bar for highly scalable real-time Internet intelligence solutions continues to rise as network speeds, and the sheer number of applications competing for network resources continue to increase," said Jason Richards, senior vice president of Global Business Development for Procera Networks. "Combining Procera's NAVL DPI software engine with Napatech's high-performance network analysis adapters delivers superior traffic visibility at high speeds for OEMs looking to develop solutions using standard hardware configurations, and we look forward to demonstrating our combined 80 Gbps solution with our partner."

The demonstration showcases the performance of Procera Networks' OEM DPI software engine integrated with Napatech's high speed network adapter, which is capable of 80 Gbps application recognition using standard multi-core server architecture.

"Over the past year we have seen continuous improvements in DPI performance," said Erik Norup, president and CMO, Napatech. "With Procera Networks we have progressed from 20 Gbps to 40 Gbps and now 80 Gbps throughput, all based on standard server hardware powered by Napatech adapters. This progress demonstrates the scalability and flexibility that can be achieved when appliance development is based on standard servers with intelligent adapters."

Napatech adapters enable rapid development of powerful appliances for high performance analysis by guaranteeing real-time delivery of data at speeds from 1 to 40 Gbps with zero packet loss. In addition, Napatech adapters provide layer 1-4 flow recognition, including encapsulation and tunneling protocols, such as IP-in-IP and GTP. The identified flows can be filtered and intelligently distributed to up to 32 server CPU cores for optimal utilization of available CPU resources.

Procera's NAVL is a next-generation OEM DPI software engine that provides real-time layer 7 application classification and metadata extraction of network traffic for OEMs. NAVL uses a combination of deep packet and deep flow inspection techniques to accurately identify today's most common applications including mobile, social networking, P2P, instant messaging, file sharing, enterprise and Web 2.0 applications.
