MUMBAI, India, Nov. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- More than 13,600 importers, retailers, wholesalers, distributors and other volume buyers attended the first annual China Sourcing Fair events in Mumbai Nov. 14-16, 2008. The three-day, co-located events China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components and China Sourcing Fair: Hardware & Building Materials featured manufacturers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Visitors from all over India, as well as nearby countries and regions, attended the Fairs. Representatives from some of India's top buying offices visited the Fairs including Future Group, Reliance Retail, IBM India, Godrej & Boyce, Whirlpool of India, Logitech, Gammon Cooling Towers, Kalpataru Properties, Mahindra Lifespace Developers, Subhiksha Trading Services, Tech Mahindra, CEAT and others.

One participating buyer, Managing Director of Sevya Multimedia Technologies, Srikant Reddy Modugula, said: "I'm really happy to be here. There's so much technology being developed. There are a lot of opportunities especially in new areas like surveillance and in-car entertainment, which is untapped in India. The Fair is very well managed -- that's what's very impressive about it. And it is very well-publicized. I have always been kept in the loop on what's happening, like who was going to be exhibiting."

General Manager of Gowell Telecom Technology (Overseas), Jijun Wang, said: "We've had around 2,000 to 2,500 visitors come to the booth. The Indian market is an emerging market. The huge population guarantees huge demand. India is a big market for Chinese products. I think the Fair is good, and it has opened an opportunity between Chinese vendors and Indian buyers."

"We are delighted with the success of these new events," said Global Sources' Executive Director, Sarah Benecke. "India is an exciting new market with lots of potential for suppliers from Greater China. Trade between mainland China and India grew 56 percent last year, to reach US$38.65 billion. And with both regions projecting bilateral trade to reach US$60 billion by 2010, it's clear that the time is right for the China Sourcing Fairs in India."

The China Sourcing Fairs are scheduled to return to the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Nov. 21-23, 2009. Details are available at http://www.chinasourcingfair.com/india .
