BANGKOK, Nov. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan today unveiled its first compact sports crossover, Juke, to the Thai market. Juke was developed to provide customers with an exciting alternative to traditional small hatchback vehicles.

With more than 680,000 units sold globally since its debut in 2010, Juke exudes unconventional styling, agile handling, driving pleasure and user-friendly technology to capture the rapidly growing compact sports crossover segment around the world.

"With the popularity of compact sports crossovers on the rise in many countries, we see great potential for Juke in Thailand," said Takayuki Kimura, president, Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. "Thanks to its excellent handling performance under all driving conditions, whether urban or upcountry, I am sure Juke will become an icon on the roads of Thailand."

With the creative concept of "Born to Excite," Juke boasts a bold design with muscular lines and sensual shapes, unique, eye-catching headlamps and boomerang-shaped taillights. The coupe-style crossover features a sports car-like high waistline and lower styling with its 17-inch alloy wheels which optimize driving stability and performance.

Renowned market research organization J.D. Power Asia Pacific recognized the distinctive styling of Juke in 2011 by scoring it top in the compact segment, performing particularly well in the vehicle exterior category.

Along with its bold design, Juke offers the innovative Integrated Control (I-Con) system. This command function manages both climate control and three different vehicle drive modes: normal for everyday driving, sport for intense driving performance or eco for maximum fuel efficiency.

Juke also enhances the driving experience through its Internet Connectivity Entertainment (I-Connect) system, which allows rapid navigation to the Internet by Wi-Fi on a 7-inch detachable screen. Simply connected by iOS or Android platforms, the system offers effortless switching between phone, music and driving information. The user can directly access the main menu through the voice recognition function and link to the audio system by steering wheel controls. In addition, all types of multimedia files can be streamed via micro SD card, USB or DLNA.

To reflect what Juke is all about, Nissan has engaged actor/singer Pachara "Peach" Chirathivat as the brand ambassador for the crossover. Along with an integrated "Entertainment Marketing" strategy under the "Born to Excite" concept, communications will cover a wide range of multimedia entertainment, including a music video by the popular band Getsunova, short films by renowned director Paween "Goff" Purijitpanya, unique LINE[1] stickers and TV commercials.

Juke is powered by a petrol-fueled HR16 engine, 16-valve 1.6-litre DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine rated at 154 Nm (15.7 Kg-m) of torque at 4,000 rpm and 116 horsepower (PS) at 5,600 rpm. The Nissan-developed Twin C-VTC (Continuous Valve Timing Control), Dual Injector System and XTRONIC CVT all contribute to Juke's responsive acceleration and excellent fuel economy. Available in two variants - 1.6E and 1.6V - Juke is offered in six colors: Burning Red, Pacific Blue, Black Solid, White Solid, Twilight Grey and Brilliant Silver. Prices start from 819,000 Baht. Nissan expects to sell 10,000 units of Juke within the first 12-month sales period.

"Distinctive, innovative, responsive and fun to drive: Juke represents what Nissan stands for - Innovation that Excites," said Kimura. "The launch of Juke is in sync with our plan to continuously deliver exciting products to our customers. We are confident that Juke will open up a whole new genre and will be an attractive offer for our Thai customers."
