New Points-of-Presence (PoPs) added in Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas

and New York City to enhance global connectivity

HONG KONG, July 10 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Pacnet today announced the completion of four new Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in the US, almost doubling its presence in the US to 9 PoPs and enhancing its global network coverage. The new PoPs are in New York, Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco.

Following the operational merger of Asia Netcom and Pacific Internet into Pacnet, the company has more than doubled its presence and its latest expansion increases its PoPs around the world to more than 75.

"The new interconnections will enhance our ability to serve US-based multinational corporations over our leading edge infrastructure, so that they can seamlessly connect with customers, partners and their rapidly expanding operations in Asia," said Wilfred Kwan, Chief Technology Officer of Pacnet. "We plan to continue expanding our presence by adding more PoPs around the world in the near future, to meet the growing demand for connectivity to Asia."

Mr. Kwan added, "The extension of Pacnet's PoPs on the US West Coast is an integral part of our trans-Pacific strategy which also enables our planned EAC-Pacific subsea cable to gain enhanced access into the US." EAC-Pacific is part of the $300 million Unity cable that will connect Chikura, Japan and the west coast of the US.

In addition to the San Francisco interconnection, Pacnet already has four other PoPs on the west coast of the US which also serve as international gateways and are major IP Transit locations for its network.

"Our new US PoPs will further extend Pacnet's core MPLS infrastructure and serve as an onramp for customers to reap the benefits of our network as they grow their businesses in Asia," said Gina Haspilaire, Pacnet's Vice President of North America. "We are pleased to expand our interconnections within the US which also enables us to more effectively deliver Pacnet's core portfolio of enhanced products and services to our customers."

Pacnet, one of the pioneers of MPLS in Asia, offers a full portfolio of next generation network solutions designed to address the voice and data communications requirements of global corporations requiring connectivity solutions to and from Asia. Backed by its wholly-owned EAC-C2C submarine cable system, all Pacnet solutions are scalable and highly customizable.
