BEIJING, Aug. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Phoenix New Media Limited ("Phoenix New Media", "ifeng" or the "Company") (NYSE: FENG), a leading new media company in China, today announced that its board of directors has authorized the Company to revise and extend the term of a loan previously granted to Particle Inc. ("Particle") from twelve (12) months to eighteen (18) months, while the other terms and conditions remain the same. The loan with a principal amount of US$14.8 million was granted in August 2016 (the "August 2016 Loan") and will mature in February 2018 after the extension. Particle may, if it gives the Company a prior notice, prepay all or any portion of the Loan. In connection with the extension of the August 2016 Loan, Particle has extended the Company's right to convert, at the Company's option, all or a portion of the August 2016 Loan (including principal and interests) into Series D1 preferred shares to be issued by Particle to February 9, 2018.
Particle owns Yidian Zixun ("Yidian"), a rapidly-growing personalized news and life-style information application in China, which allows users to efficiently define and explore individualized content over mobile devices. The Company currently owns approximately 41.82% of the total outstanding shares of Particle on an as-if converted basis.
