HONG KONG, Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PineBridge Investments ("PineBridge"), a leading global multi-asset class manager, today announced the appointment of Stephan van Vliet as Head of Insurance Asset Management effective immediately.
In this newly-created position, Mr. van Vliet's appointment builds on PineBridge's deep expertise in insurance asset management. Mr. van Vliet will be based in Hong Kong but will have a global role, leading PineBridge's practice in providing tailored investment solutions to insurance clients based on corporate priorities and each company's asset and liability profiles.
Mr. van Vliet will report to both David Jiang, PineBridge's global CEO, and Rajeev Mittal, CEO of Asia. He joins the firm from ING Insurance Asia-Pacific, where he served as Head of Investments and was responsible for the asset allocation of 10 Asian insurance companies. Prior to that, he was Head of Insurance Asset Management at ING Investment Management in Europe, advising and managing portfolios for ING's European insurance companies and pension funds.

Mr. van Vliet has held a number of roles with ING in Europe and Asia, including General Manager of ING Investment Management in Milan and Head of Insurance Asset Management for ING Investment Management Europe in The Hague.
In Hong Kong, Mr. van Vliet was Director of Proprietary Asset Management for ING Investment Management Asia-Pacific from 2005 to 2008, in addition to his most recent position as Head of Investments for ING Insurance Asia-Pacific, which he held from 2010 to 2013.
Mr. van Vliet has an MBA from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University in the United States. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Nijenrode University in The Netherlands.
