Young Icebreakers, British Companies and Chinese Media Partners Join the British Business Awards

BEIJING, Aug. 1 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The British Business Awards in China has opened a new category, attracted substantial entrants, and the participation of major Chinese media groups which together will make the inaugural event a significant demonstration of the extensive partnership and friendship between China and the United Kingdom. The Awards, led by the British Chamber of Commerce, are being held on November 6th 2008 in Beijing to recognize innovation, enterprise and endeavour by British and Chinese in the fields of business, education and corporate social responsibility. Due to the addition of the new Award and additional sponsorship the entry deadline has been extended to August 31st.

Old Pioneers Recognize Young Icebreakers

First engaged with commercial ties with China in 1953, the influential 48 Group continues its tradition of bringing the two nations closer with the creation and sponsorship of the Young Icebreaker category. The award will reward the efforts of a young British or Chinese professional in promoting relations between China and Britain.

Champions of British Business Compete

Many Chinese who have studied in the UK have also entered the Alumnus of the Year Award, a category created by the British Council to recognize the achievements of the 160,000 Chinese who have studied at British institutions.

Entry Deadline extended

Applicants can enter the Awards until the 31st of August, an extension granted by the Panel of Advisors due to the addition of the Young Icebreakers Awards and support of Jardine OneSolution. Entrants are able to register online at http://www.britishbusinessawards.cn .
