The promotional video shows people having a good time dancing to the tune of Maru-chan's dance song at 35 sightseeing spots and noted places across the city of Shizuoka, including a spot for viewing Mt. Fuji, a recently named World Heritage site, and a host of facilities providing fine food such as Japanese tea, wasabi, Shizuoka oden stew and Shimizu stewed motsu.

Momoko Sakura, a native of Shizuoka City who authored the Chibi Maruko-chan manga and anime series, wrote lyrics while many popular Japanese artists collaborated with her to write music and choreograph the dance.

Shizuoka Mayor Nobuhiro Tanabe, said in his video appearance, "With many citizens joining in and gourmet foods mentioned, the dance song emerged as very familiar to us."

The entire city of Shizuoka has been stepping up its efforts to promote Maru-chan no Shizuoka Ondo, including Shizuoka Railway Co., Ltd. which in September unveiled a LuLuCa IC card carrying an image of the dance song.

Shizuoka City is aiming at gaining the recognition of the city as an attractive tourist destination with the hope that people abroad will also dance to Maru-chan no Shizuoka Ondo.
