Students in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area Once Again Perform Excellently on the National Higher Education Entrance Exam

TIANJIN, China, July 6 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- This year, 229 people residing in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area took the National Higher Education Entrance Exam. Of these, 87 took the test for liberal arts students, and 142 took the test for science students. 46% of participating students in the district scored high enough to be accepted during the first round of university admissions, while 70% scored high enough to be accepted by the second round.

The scores of students from the Tianjin Economic-Development Area Number One Middle School were especially exceptional. Nineteen students, making up 14% of the school's participants in the exam, scored over 600; of these 19, three students took the exam for liberal arts students, the highest-scoring student achieving a score of 634, and 16 students took the exam for science students, the highest-scoring achieving a score of 669. The average score of the school's science-exam participants was 554, a full 45 points higher than the city's first-round admissions cut-off, while the average score of liberal arts-exam participants was 544, 25 points higher than the first-round admissions cut-off.

The Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area No. 2 Middle School has also made great progress, with 31% of students scoring high enough to be accepted to university by the second round of admissions, an increase of 14% over last year. Especially notable was that 35% of students who took the science exam scored high enough to be accepted by the second round of admissions, which represents a growth of 22% over 2009. Additionally, three students who took the entrance exam for the arts scored well enough to be accepted to undergraduate art programs.

The Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area No. 1 Middle School was named a city-level key middle school by the Tianjin Municipal Educational Committee this year.
