THT Heat Transfer Technology Obtains ASME "U" Stamp and Utility Model Patent

SIPING, China, July 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- THT Heat Transfer Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:THTI) ("the Company", or "THT"), a leading provider of heat exchangers and heat exchange solutions in China's clean technology industry, today announced that it has obtained a "U" Stamp certificate of authorization from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers ("ASME"), which enables the Company to manufacture "pressure vessels" as defined and regulated by ASME codes. Additionally, the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China (the "SIPO") has granted the Company a utility model patent for its Powder Heat Exchanger, effective June 8, 2011.

Founded in 1880, ASME awards certificates of authorization to identify products, services and quality systems that comply with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) Code, which establishes the rules governing design, fabrication, and inspection of boiler pressure vessels during manufacture and assembly. ASME Code Stamps are regarded as a hallmark of acceptance and certification, indicating that the product conforms to the highest standards, and adheres to ASME BPV Codes. The ASME Code Stamp is accepted in over 100 countries as a means of meeting government safety regulations. This prestigious authorization further enhances THT's image and reputation and will help pave the way for THT's further expansion into international markets, particularly the US and Europe.

The Powder Heat Exchanger patent is used to heat, cool and dry bulk materials. It is mainly applied in the chemical, fertilizer, polymer, pharmaceutical, food, metallurgy and other industries which have heat transfer demands for powder and bulk solids that cannot be satisfied by conventional plate heat exchangers. Traditionally, the bulk industry has adapted the traditional method of processing bulk materials, which relies solely on air in most of its processes. However, this process has long cooling times, is labor-intensive, suffers from an ineffective cooling process, and is not energy efficient. THT's Powder Heat Exchanger is designed to address these disadvantages, and the new patent will allow for heat transfer for bulk materials using 90% less energy compared to the traditional air cooling method. In addition, the patent has many other favorable features including the elimination of dust, odor and gas emissions, less risk of odor contamination, a more compact and easy-to-use structure, lower installation and equipment costs, and a flexible modular design. THT began to produce Powder Heat Exchangers in 2006 and has received positive feedback from customers. To date, the Company has produced eight Powder Heat Exchangers.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Guohong Zhao commented, "I am pleased to announce our receipt of the ASME 'U' Stamp authorization as well as the granting of our utility model patent. The prestigious ASME accreditation is a testimony to the quality of our facilities, services and products and we believe this elite accolade will enable us to better compete for new business and forge a stronger brand name, particularly in international markets. Our Powder Heat Exchanger patent acknowledges our ability to offer more efficient and streamlined products to an extended group of industry verticals that was previously dependent on ineffective and labor-intensive processes. This innovative technology builds on our strong reputation for high quality offerings, further differentiating us from other industry players and enabling us to assemble a more diverse product and customer base. Building off the momentum of this exciting milestone, we also recently applied for a utility model patent and invention patent for our Semi-welded Plate Heat Exchanger, which is widely used in the chemical industry."
