"As the industry migrates to all-IP networks, significant infrastructure changes must be implemented to support the new requirements of these high-performance networks, including embedded quality management features, and eventually video processing," said Tony Massimini, Chief of Technology at Semico Research Corporation. "With its commitment to developing application-specific products for communications infrastructure, coupled with its voice and video leadership, TI is well-positioned to provide the best tools and technology to power this emerging and evolving market."

TI's newest infrastructure platform, the TMS320TNETV3020, incorporates a six-core DSP delivering over 3 GHz processing performance. Providing a high density solution for voice or video media gateway and transcoding applications, the TNETV3020 supports over 504 channels of G.711 or 204 channels of AMR. A multi-level memory architecture reduces chip count and bill-of-materials cost.

An optimized software solution not only delivers TI's groundbreaking PIQUA(TM) technology, but also enables fixed mobile convergence (FMC), laying the groundwork for next generation systems. This flexible platform is based on TI's 20 years of field reliability in communications infrastructure solutions and provides voice processing needs for today, with video capabilities incorporated to meet future demands. "Our customers need a high-performance, integrated product that can process both voice and video while providing unmatched quality and features, without utilizing an excessive amount of power," said Jerold Givens, business manager for TI's communications infrastructure DSP group. "TI is the only company that has the capability to provide voice and video on a single device with the software flexibility to reduce total cost of ownership to OEM's, making converged network services a reality for end consumers. This product is only the first of many in our carrier infrastructure platform."

Featuring Telogy(TM) software, the advanced processing capabilities of the TNETV3020 also provide carriers with the horsepower and flexibility to incorporate security features required in today's networks. TI's current line-up of robust products are currently in use at major carriers worldwide. This new platform extends TI's portfolio of solutions for high-density carrier infrastructure media processing, and maintains the flexibility to accommodate today's network requirements while striving to accommodate the applications of tomorrow's networks.
