The St. Regis Beijing Announces the Launch of Its New Chinese Name - Beijing Ruiji Jiudian

BEIJING, Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Today, the renaming ceremony of the new Chinese name for The St. Regis Beijing was held at the hotel's Garden Lounge, announcing that the Chinese brand name of The St. Regis Beijing is officially renamed to "Beijing Ruiji Jiudian" which translates into the English of The St. Regis Beijing.

Established in 1997 as a member of Sheraton's Luxury Collection carrying the name Beijing International Club Hotel, its entrance into the market introduced a new benchmark for international five star luxury hotels in China. The name at the time drew from its heritage to reflect the colourful history of the International Club where famous foreign dignitaries including heads of state met with the Chinese government's top officials.

In 2000, the hotel was rebranded The St. Regis Beijing as the first St. Regis branded hotel in the Asia Pacific region, introducing the signature St. Regis Butler service to every single hotel guest and escalating the service standards of the Chinese hospitality industry to even greater heights. Respecting the true heritage and fame of the grounds in which the hotel stands, the Chinese name remained unchanged to better serve the domestic market at the time.

Today the St. Regis brand can be found in multiple cities across China; such as in Shanghai and Lhasa and with new hotels under development in Tianjin, Chengdu, Nanjing and Sanya. With the brand's rapid expansion in China, the Chinese brand name "Rui Ji Jiu Dian" translating into English as St. Regis Hotel will be used across all St. Regis hotels in China.

With The St. Regis Beijing being one of Starwood Hotels & Resort's signature hotels in Asia, and with the recent name change, The St. Regis Beijing will continue its quest in leading the St. Regis brand operation in China through joint marketing initiatives generated by the brand team of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.
