HONG KONG, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- UBM, the world 's leading organiser of B2B jewellery and gem fairs is delighted to announce the launch of the Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair. The first edition of the show will be held from 16-18 December 2011 in Mumbai.
"This launch is a direct response to the market, who has requested that UBM come to Mumbai with a show for the key buying season at the beginning of the year. They recognise the unmatched quality and professionalism of the UBM events in India and around the world," said Jime Essink, President & CEO, UBM Asia.
In addition to its global portfolio of jewellery fairs, which include the world 's largest event -- the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair which takes place in September, UBM already organised two leading shows in the south of India: GJIIE (Gems & Jewellery India International Exhibition) in Chennai and HJF (Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl & Gem Fair) in Hyderabad. Together these shows have attracted over 400 trade exhibitors and 18,000 trade visitors and are growing quickly on the back of domestic growth of over 40% per year.
"Mumbai city is the richest city and the financial capital of India. It is the gateway for international buyers and sellers to access the market. The jewellery sold here is increasingly matching the requirements of international buyers. At the same time domestic consumers' tastes are becoming more sophisticated," said Letitia Chow, Director of Business Development -- Jewellery Group, UBM Asia. She added: "December is the best time to visit India. The weather is very pleasant and there is no rain. More importantly the timing allows Indian buyers to purchase ahead of the key New Year trading season.
The Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair will be a B2B jewellery trade event to take place in the pulsating and thriving city of Mumbai. The fair will have exhibitors of diamonds, pearls, gemstones, silver jewellery, fine finished jewellery, machinery and equipment, software and allied products, packaging and display from all over India and the world. The fair will attract jewellery wholesalers, retailers, exporters, importers, jewellery manufacturers, diamond and gemstones suppliers, allied products and service providers, trade and government organisations and international sourcing delegates. Being the peak tourist season, the month of December with its cool climate is ideal and well timed to bring in the Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair 2011.
"The support from all major jewellery trade associations in India is very encouraging and a good participation is expected from their members. Discussions are taking place with the key associations about how we can best work together for the benefit of the whole industry. Taking advantage of UBM Asia 's powerful database of buyers and intensive global promotion in key trade fairs and publications, the fair aims to draw a huge number of potential buyers from India and overseas," said Sanjeev Khaira, Managing Director, UBM India.
