The Extra Youth Outreach Campaign is now in its twelfth consecutive year and will kick off with the sponsorship of a World Oral Health Day event held in Bau District, Kuching on 20 March 2014. Following this event, oral care educational activities will be held in secondary schools through the months of April and June 2014, covering major city centers in Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Melaka, Perak, Penang, and the Klang Valley.

"We at Wrigley developed the Extra Youth Outreach Campaign and are committed for the twelfth year running to communicate the importance of good oral hygiene and dental care in a fun and easily-accessible manner to teenagers, who are at the best time of their lives to adopt healthy lifelong habits," said Tracy Soh, Brand Manager of The Wrigley Company (M) Sdn. Bhd.

"This year, we expect to reach more than 20,000 people throughout the duration of the campaign, where we will also educate our next generation on cleanliness and proper gum disposal, all while cultivating the habit of using sugar-free gum for better oral health," she added.

According to scientific research, the acidity level in the mouth increases after eating and drinking, and with it, the chances of tooth decay*. While it usually takes a couple of hours for acidity in the mouth to be neutralized, chewing Extra sugar-free gum for 20 minutes after meals will increase saliva flow by at least 10 times, which helps neutralize plaque acids, remove food debris, strengthen tooth enamel and helps to prevent tooth decay.
