MELBOURNE, Australia, December 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- GiggleUp is pleased to announce today the release of their new app, "Interactive Telling Time", which is now available worldwide on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. "Interactive Telling Time" is a multifunctional game app that encourages active learning through play for children aged between 3 and 12.

This carefully thought-out educational app features five game modes and one tutorial mode designed for young learners. It is great for independent learning, with customizable difficulty levels to accompany the child's progress. It can also be a useful tool for parents to guide younger children in learning about time in a fun and easy way.

"We understand the many challenges faced by parents when explaining concepts to young children and that is why 'Interactive Telling Time' balances the need for learning with fun and interactive games," said Benjamin Lee of GiggleUp.

"Interactive Telling Time" comes beautifully illustrated with adorable graphics and encouraging voice-overs. This app sets out to create a kid-friendly environment for young children to explore complicated concepts of time, including:

  • How to tell the time by reading a clock
  • How to set the time via interactive clocks with movable hour and minute hands
  • How to switch between analog and digital clocks
  • How to use AM/PM, 12 hour and 24 hour clock notation
  • How to tell between daytime and night time
  • How to use related terms such as 'o'clock', 'midnight', 'half past', 'quarter past', 'quarter to', 'past', 'to', etc.

This app caters for every stage of the learning process, with 5 difficulty levels to choose from, a score board to keep track of the child's progress as well as a tutorial mode to get them started. Players are encouraged to complete the set tasks in order to earn new items for their 'Virtual Aquarium'.

Other fun games include:

  • 'Stop the Clock!' -- Players must stop the minute hand ticking at the correct time. (For example, "stop the clock at 9:45!")
  • A clock puzzle -- Kids learn the positions and use of all clock components such as the digits, the hour hand and the minute hand.

With multiple languages available, this app can also be a useful tool for adults wishing to learn how to tell the time in a foreign language. (Includes English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese and Chinese)
