COBURG, Germany, March 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brose Group has received the Supplier Award 2012 for outstanding performance in the "exterior" category. It was presented at the annual Daimler suppliers event at the Mercedes-Benz Center in Stuttgart. The theme of the event was "Night of Masterpieces" and Stuttgart-based car manufacturer Daimler presented awards to a total of 16 international suppliers – including five in the passenger car segment – in front of around 650 high-ranking industry representatives. It is the second time Brose has received the award in four years.

The Daimler Supplier Award recognizes above-average performance in terms of technology, quality, costs and delivery reliability. The Brose Group came first in the “exterior” category of the Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans segment. The award recognizes Brose’s investments in global production facilities for just-in-sequence delivery (JIS), its smooth series production ramp-ups and excellent product quality.

As a mechatronics specialist, Brose develops door systems and window regulators for all Daimler’s current vehicle models and supplies them from its plants in Sindelfingen, Rastatt, Kecskemet (Hungary), Beijing (China), Brits (South Africa) and Tuscaloosa (USA) just-in-sequence direct to the assembly line of the local Mercedes-Benz car plant. More ramp-ups are planned for 2013 at the JIS plants in East London (South Africa) and Bremen. Brose also supplies Daimler with seat systems and electric motors. Its close partnership with Daimler stretches back over 60 years.

"Brose is one of the top performers on our Balance Score Card. We presented the company with this award because of its high delivery reliability and excellent quality standards," says Dr. Klaus Zehender, Head of Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans.

Juergen Otto, CEO of the Brose Group, accepted the prize from Dr Wolfgang Bernhard, Board Member Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, and from Dr. Klaus Zehender, saying, "We first received the Daimler Supplier Award in 2009. So we are extremely proud to have received this important award again so soon. The Daimler Supplier Award validates our efforts to be a reliable partner for our customers at all times and in all places."

Kurt Sauernheimer, Executive Vice President Door Systems Brose Group, was delighted, "My thanks go to all our employees, whose hard work and professional attitude enable us to impress Daimler with our innovative, high-quality products."

Brose’s door systems integrate the main door functions into one unit and are delivered – pre-tested and ready to be fitted – in sequence with the vehicle production process. This makes the production process easier for the customer, helps with quality assurance and simplifies variant management. For instance, the Brose plant in Sindelfingen supplies the nearby Mercedes-Benz factory with a large number of door system variants for several different vehicle models in sequence with the vehicle production process. Just a few hours after the order arrives, the door systems are delivered to the final assembly line at the Mercedes factory ready to be fitted, having been assembled, fully checked and transported.
