Daniel Aylmer appointed as General Manager of Le Royal Meridien Shanghai and Area Managing Director, East China, Starwood Hotels & Resorts

SHANGHAI, April 16, 2012/PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Daniel Aylmer as General Manager of Le Royal Meridien Shanghai, the flagship Le Meridien Hotel in Asia Pacific, and Area Managing Director, East China, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, effective April 2, 2012.

In his new role, Mr. Aylmer will be responsible for all aspects of Le Royal Meridien Shanghai’s operations, enhancing employee development and guest satisfaction, strategic planning and brand recognition. Meanwhile Mr. Aylmer will also have enhanced leadership responsibilities by taking up the role as Area Managing Director, East China and overseeing all Starwood hotels and resorts in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui under eight distinctive brands.

With over 17 years of hospitality experience including some of the world’s leading hotels, Daniel boasts expertise at driving profitability through inspiring and managing talent as well as his creditable leadership style which is a blend of teamwork, accountability to the vision and his mentorship of talented employees.

Mr. Aylmer joins Le Royal Meridien Shanghai from The Westin Beijing Chaoyang. There, as General Manager, he successfully led the opening of the hotel and also administered all areas directly under his supervision to ensure that every aspect of the hotel met Westin brand standards. The hotel has won rewarding recognition for its excellent business performance within the group as well as developing good brand awareness in the market since its opening.

A British citizen, Mr. Aylmer started his hotel career in 1995 in America and has been with Starwood for 15 years. He made his debut with Starwood as Director of Sales and Marketing at The Westin Surabaya in 1997 and was promoted to General Manager of Sheraton Suzhou Hotel & Towers in 2004, before his most recent posting with The Westin Beijing Chaoyang.
