Executive Producer Bianca Chen Announced Partnership with UNICEF

NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- NEXT: Blockchain, the docuseries by OX3 TV Production on the controversial blockchain technology, premiered its latest episode "Fork" at the World Blockchain Forum on November 8th, New York. Its executive producer Bianca Chen, veteran financial journalist, announced OX3's partnership with UNICEF Innovation at WBF's VIP After Party.

It took OX3 TV Production, the team behind NEXT: Blockchain, 19 months to produce the 6-episode series. To capture the blockchain industry in a panoramic perspective, the team traveled across continents and visited all over the US, Canada, China, Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, France, Australia, and other countries, interviewing over a hundred thought leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and developers along the way.

The star-studded roster includes Tim Draper, Don & Alex Tapscott, Charlie Shrem, Vitalik Buterin, Joseph Lubin, Roger Ver, Jeff Garzik, to name a few. The release of the first episode has garnered millions of hits online. Rather than retreading the tiresome "crypto good or bad" motif, NEXT covered topics untouched by similar projects, such as its history, its various pioneers, and the power dynamics within the industry, offering a fresh angle on the blockchain field, and was thus selected as one of the five finalists for Best Documentary Project at this year's MIPDOC, Cannes.

The idea of partnering with UNICEF Innovation Unit occurred to Bianca during her interview with their founder, Christopher Fabian. Since the unit's establishment almost a decade ago, the team has dedicated itself to innovating for children. They look to form partnerships around blockchain, but due to a lack of public awareness and funding, their efforts are often stalled.

The situation motivated Bianca to launch #Blockchain4BetterWorld, a socially responsible initiative in collaboration with UNICEF Innovation to encourage public participation in creating a better future for children through blockchain technology, facilitating blockchain-enabled applications that bring positive changes to the world. The initiative stemmed from a notion that NEXT should do more than educating its audiences, but striving to create tangible social impact by calling out to them. Both individuals and enterprises can participate through donation, tech support, and project submission.

The premiere saw the announcement of the initiative and already won support from blockchain companies including Bloq, Distributed Capital, Bitcoin, and Altonomy, who offered to match public donations with their own capital contribution. Li You, co-founder of Altonomy, said that in the long run, this cooperation would provide a good way for young people to understand the technology, cultivating a new generation of talents in blockchain.

NEXT: Blockchain plans to release a Chinese version on the country's biggest video platform, Tencent, on November 13th, followed by an on-campus screening tour. The international version is expected to come out in spring, 2019.
