BEIJING, Feb. 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- IMAX China is estimating approximately 36.6 million RMB in box office for the third day of Chinese New Year, which represents a nearly 67% increase over IMAX's 2018 Chinese New Year third-day results and a 6% increase from yesterday. To date, IMAX China's 2019 Chinese New Year box office performance is tracking over 28% ahead of its record-setting 2018 results.
The Wandering Earth continues to dominate the IMAX China box office adding an estimated 34.7 million RMB on Thursday. To date, The Wandering Earth has generated a total IMAX cume in China of approximately 85 million RMB.
The Wandering Earth is also performing strongly in its IMAX-exclusive North American run, where it grossed approximately $230,000 during its second day and ranked the #10 highest-grossing domestic film overall for the day from just 33 IMAX locations.
