JINAN, China, Aug. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/-- On July 30, China's Inspur Group and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) signed a technical cooperation agreement on media cloud computing and smart multimedia search cloud platform, which will enhance the technology and market cooperation between Inspur and Singapore and boost the global development of the group.
Inspur Group is a leading supplier of overall cloud computing solutions in China, the second largest Chinese proprietary brand IT provider and the largest Chinese proprietary brand software manufacturer. Its comprehensive strength makes it one of the two leading IT Corporations in China. Inspur has successfully developed China's first large high-end server -- Tiansuo K1 system -- based on cloud computing infrastructure, positioning China as one of three countries to take a lead in large mainframe technology. In a plan funded by the Singapore government, Inspur and NTU will jointly study new-generation multimedia cloud computing technology as well as smart media recognition and search technology at NTU's Rapid-Rich Object Search (ROSE) Lab, in a move to create a global top research and development platform for multimedia and cloud computing technology. Based on Inspur's basic cloud computing platform technology, the two parties will jointly develop a more efficient multimedia cloud computing platform. With the platform, the two partners expect to achieve stronger multimedia information processing and computing capacity with lower costs, while furnishing comprehensive basic service capacities that include media access, processing, computing, distribution and search. These new capabilities are anticipated to provide not only handling of text but also multimedia as well as structured big data and unstructured big data.
This cooperation is an illustration of what is possible between a leading Chinese IT firm and an international first-class university, solidating Inspur's core position in the field of next generation cloud computing and big data technology. With this cooperation, Inspur Group is expected to achieve a series of important milestones in big data, multimedia search engine and multimedia server technologies, among other aspects.
