SAO PAULO, June 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- In recent years, JBS Couros has made substantial investments in its unit in Vietnam to expand installed capacity and set up facilities for its clients. With the injection of more than US$ 5 million during this period, the plant's built area has practically doubled, going from 18.5 thousand m2 to 35.8 thousand m2, culminating in the inauguration of a showroom inside the unit.
In this space, clients will have the opportunity to see and touch pieces of furniture. "Leather that has already been applied to a final product gives the client a chance to ascertain the high quality of our product," explains JBS Couros President, Guilherme Motta. "Touching a finished and applied product is different from touching a piece of leather by itself. Furniture with the leather applied to it offers a more complete experience," he notes.
The Vietnam unit produces finished leathers for the furniture industry focused on the Asian and North American markets, and the country's new showroom adheres closely to the line established by the company in the United States. There, JBS Couros has a privileged position, with its own distribution center, dedicated sales teams and a showroom that also displays pieces of furniture with applied leather.
"These investments are ensuring that the North American and Asian markets are connected and in tune with each other, receiving products that are always in line with what local consumers want, regardless of where such products are made," Motta observes.
Since its opening in 2014, the unit in Vietnam has followed a firm trajectory of growth. Its production rose 233% between 2014 and 2018, and in addition, during the same period, the number of employees at the unit has practically tripled. "Investment in the country has always been strategic, and since the beginning we have had local partners who have helped us to better understand the culture and needs of the market. Now, with the showroom, we are offering our clients major options, both for development of the regional market, and for establishing a bridge among trends," remarks Motta.
Until June 28, JBS Couros will be receiving clients from Asia in the new space to present its portfolio of products and services. The investment comprises a part of the company's global business strategy, which also has industrial platforms in South America, North America and Europe, allowing for flexibility in serving its clients' different strategies.
