Jayne to discuss The Human Deception Problem: Understanding and Defending Against Social Engineering Attacks

TAMPA BAY, Florida, Nov. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- KnowBe4, the provider of the world's largest security awareness training and simulated phishing platform, today announced that Jacqueline Jayne, security awareness advocate for APAC will be presenting on social engineering at the Perth Cyber Conference on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 10:45 a.m.

Jayne's session will include information on social engineering, including the fact that it's consistently the single most reliable cybersecurity attack vector. Understanding the root cause of deception is an important factor in ultimately figuring out how to better defend organizations. The OODA loop encourages people to take deliberate steps to observe, orient, decide and act. Attackers will do anything to bypass the OODA loop way of thinking and acting by trying to cause a knee-jerk reaction. During this session, attendees will learn how to defend against the bad guys and some of the tricks and tactics they deploy in a social engineering scenario.

"I'm delighted to bring my knowledge on social engineering and my passion for educating and engaging people to the Perth Cyber Conference later this week," said Jayne. "During my talk, I'll provide fun and engaging examples of mental manipulation in everyday life: from the tactics used by common criminals, to sophisticated social engineering and online scams. It's critical to present this kind of information to people to help them better defend against social engineering attacks."

Jayne has over 20 years' experience as a conduit between people and technology and has mastered the art of communication and influence. Previously, she led a successful cybersecurity education and awareness program that changed behavior and culture, aimed at helping users make better security decisions online. Her insights on the human condition and how to engage at all levels in this space are invaluable.
