BEIJING, May 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- GMIC, the world's largest and leading technology conference, has announced that GMIC 2019 will move from Beijing to the new host city of Guangzhou this July, elevating both its brand and industry influence as it connects scientists with entrepreneurs and creatives in an in-depth exploration of a limitless future, anchored in the three pillars of science, technology, and science fiction.
With particular emphasis on its new Scientific Rennaissance Festival, 5G, AI, and frontier technologies, GMIC 2019 will be extended from two days to four as well as expanded to cover four separate venues, enabling all guests to experience and immerse themselves in the spirit of science. The venues are the Canton Fair Pazhou Complex, the Westin Pazhou, the Canton Tower, and the White Swan Hotel. More than 50,000 people are expected to attend.
"GMIC was born in the mobile Internet era," said Wen Chu, Founder and CEO of Great Wall Club (GWC), the private network and conference producer behind GMIC. "Uniting governments, partners, and customers alike, it has become a globally influential platform and key facilitator over the past decade. Above all, GMIC creates significant value for foreign companies looking to explore and expand in China, and we are proud to count Facebook, Snap, Twitter, and Google among our collaboraters. 2019 is an important year, as we have spearheaded a new strategy for the decade ahead that seeks to elevate the overall GMIC brand and platform to a whole new level. Given the timing as well as Guangzhou's transformation into a center of innovation and talent, we have decided to hold GMIC 2019 in this dynamic city, to mark the beginning of an exciting new decade. We express our gratitude to the city of Beijing, while looking forward to this upcoming collaboration with the city of Guangzhou!"
"In 2016, GMIC embarked on a mission to promote science and a 'Scientific Renaissance', as coined by the late Dr. Stephen Hawking," said Wang Jing, Editor-in-Chief of GWC and Head of GMIC. "The following year, our team traveled to England to meet with Dr. Hawking and prepare a short speech on AI for GMIC 2017. Now, we are leveraging the historic development of the Greater Bay Area, which aims to develop Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau into a strategic regional hub, and taking our next step in the journey to unleash greater growth in Guangzhou. In addition to drawing inspiration from Chinese customs, we will launch the Science Renaissance Festival to revive the public's interest in science, so that we can spark greater awareness and appreciation of its important role in everyday lives."
Since its creation in 2009, GMIC has become a global science and technology innovation platform that connects B2B executives from more than 70 countries. It has continuously expanded both the scale and influence of its conference over the last decade, and is today one of the most important events connecting international partners and clients with the goal of facilitating their business expansion in APAC.
