USI Launched the Wireless Module for Smart Homes to Support Amazon Alexa Voice Service (AVS)

SHANGHAI, Nov. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- USI (SSE: 601231), a global electronics designer and manufacturer, announced the launch of the wireless module WM-BN-MT-52 (also known as Alexa Connect Kit or ACK for short), which can fully support Amazon Alexa Voice Service (AVS).The wireless module can be widely used in the field of smart homes and was officially put into mass production in May 2019.

With the advent of 5G era, voice interaction technology will be applied to and used in more and more intelligent terminals, while the realization of all these need the wireless module with miniaturization, high precision and strong signal.

The size of the ACK wireless module, launched by USI this time, is only 16x23x1.87 mm. It adopts metal shielding package with integrated antenna, including highly integrated 1T1R Wi-Fi/BT AP of MediaTek, ARM ® Cortex®-M4 processor and MT7697H, the single chip for a power management unit.

"When using this module to develop intelligent products, our customers neither need to worry about the cloud service management nor write network encryption protocols and firmware specially used for Alexa Skill or with complex design. All these functions are integrated into the module to reduce the difficulty in designing and developing intelligent products," said Eric Su, Sr. Director of Wireless & Connectivity Solution BU of USI.

In 2016, Amazon swept the tech world and industry with its voice assistant Alexa. Simply put, Alexa can work as the brain of a "smart home". With such a hub, people can give instructions directly by voice to turn on or off lights, doors and automatic sprinkler systems that are connected with WiFi. Many manufacturers of smart devices have invested significant resources in trying to adapt their products to Alexa.

The ACK module launched by USI can effectively reduce the development cost. Smart devices can be connected to the Alexa Voice Service just by connecting the microcontroller of the existing device to the ACK module through a serial port and adding a serial port handle to the microcontroller. The module can work between -30 degree Celsius and 85 degree Celsius, thus meeting the design and use requirements for smart home equipment under normal circumstances.

At present, the ACK module of USI has passed the communication regulation certification of many countries and regions, such as FCC certification in the United States, CE certification in the European Union, IC certification in Canada, SRRC certification in Mainland China, MIC certification in Japan, Anatel certification in Brazil, C-Tick and RCM certification in Australia/New Zealand, and NCC certification in Taiwan.

In the era of Internet of Everything, USI will increase input in research and development to launch more cost-effective, more intelligent and miniaturized wireless terminal equipment through continuous scientific and technological innovation for a better life.
