Passing of the late Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew

Lee Kuan Yew was born in Singapore in 1923 and was a founder of the People's Action Party which the ruling government of Singapore since. He became Singapore's Prime Minister in 1959, serving successive terms until he resigned in November 1990 when he was appointed Senior Minister. He was appointed Minister Mentor in August 2004 and was appointed Senior Advisor to the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation after stepping down as Minister Mentor in May 2011. Mr Lee had an extraordinary grasp of the world's political and economical trends. Many political and business leaders continued to seek his insights even after he stepped down as prime minister. His sharpness of mind and candour, as well as the depth of his political experience, gained him an influence that was altogether disproportionate for a leader of such a small state as Singapore.
