International Day of Happiness

What is the International Day of Happiness? It’s a day to be happy, of course! Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognise the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world. The UN just launched 17 Sustainable Development Goals that seek to end poverty, reduce inequality, and protect our planet – three key aspects that lead to well-being and happiness. The United Nations invites each person of any age, plus every classroom, business and government to celebrate the International Day of Happiness each year on March 20.

Since 1962 World Theatre Day has been celebrated by ITI Centres, ITI Cooperating Members, theatre professionals, theatre organizations, theatre universities and theatre lovers all over the world on the 27th of March. This day is a celebration for those who can see the value and importance of the art form “theatre”, and acts as a wake-up-call for governments, politicians and institutions which have not yet recognised its value to the people and to the individual and have not yet realised its potential for economic growth.

World Sleep Day

World Sleep Day is an annual event, intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving. It is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of World Sleep Society (founded by WASM and WSF) and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders. World Sleep Day is held the Friday before Spring Vernal Equinox of each year. Future dates will be: March 15, 2019 and March 14, 2020.

228 Peace Memorial Day is a Taiwanese public holiday that serves as a memorial event for the 228 Massacre. The day honors all of the people that were murdered by Kuomintang military forces on February 27, 1947. The holiday is generally treated as a day of sadness and reflection. When a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, the Taiwan administration will make arrangements to turn it into an extended holiday by using the previous Saturday as an official work makeup day, with the exception of some special situations.
