TAIPEI and SEOUL, South Korea, May 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ubitus Inc., the worldwide cloud gaming leader, and KT Corporation, the largest telecommunication service provider in South Korea, today jointly announced the launch of a new cloud gaming service on a series of KT's IPTV set-top-boxes, which are equipped to play many blockbuster AAA game titles with the latest upgrades.
KT introduced its gaming service, "Wizgame," on IPTV Set-top-boxes earlier this year and has now strengthened its cloud gaming service by working closely together with Ubitus. As of May 21st the firmware of existing KT set-top-boxes has been officially upgraded for millions of users who can now enjoy cloud gaming services. The supported device's coverage is expected to include legacy set-top-boxes and high-end devices such as Smart Web set-top-boxes and UHD set-top-boxes by the end of 2015. At that point, most of KT's millions of STB users will be able to enjoy premium cloud gaming services along with their IPTV subscriptions.
With Ubitus' next-generation cloud gaming technologies ushering in console-grade game performance and experience on KT's set-top-boxes, more AAA game titles from the world's leading game companies are expected to land on KT's cloud gaming platform going forward. Some of the expected games include the "FINAL FANTASY" series by Square Enix, "Lego Marvel Super Heroes" and "Lego Lord of the Rings" from Warner Brothers. AAA titles like these will ensure that the gamers among KT's IPTV subscribers are constantly busy playing with the newest, biggest titles, bringing them endless excitement.
