Following the kick-off of the event, Prof. YU Yu, Head of the International Students Office of Tongji University, and Bettina Kosiel, Director of EMBA Program of Mannheim Business School, delivered keynote speeches on behalf of the institution each represented. The two speakers highly praised the Mannheim-Tongji EMBA Program for its positive role in the tightening of the Sino-German economic and trade relationship.
When describing the close friendship between teachers and students, Prof. CHEN Shouming, deputy dean of the School of Economics & Management at Tongji University declared "We are family" during his heartfelt speech. Prof. Chen also brought the audience up to date on a recent piece of exciting news: The Mannheim-Tongji EMBA Program placed 14th on the recently-released QS Global Joint EMBA Rankings 2017. This is the first time that the program has ranked in the respected annual EMBA assessment since its inauguration in 2011. For the Mannheim-Tongji EMBA Program, the honor was well earned after five years of effort, which has solidly laid the foundation for more achievements.
Professor Han Zheng, a member of the Mannheim-Tongji EMBA program faculty, gave a humorous speech that invited laughter from the audience. He said that the foundation of human civilization lies in cross-cultural communication, which is the EMBA program's unwavering objective and where its true value lies. Marc Poetzsch, representing the graduating class, delivered his graduation speech during which he thanked the program for the up-to-date business knowledge that was imparted, the management skills he was able to develop and the precious friendships he had formed during the time he spent in the program.
After the gala ceremony during which the diplomas were awarded and the "turning of the tassel" moment, the "Innovative Leadership" Forum officially started. Three specially invited guests, Porsche vice president for Greater China Dr. Manfred Braeunl, Bosch (Shanghai) Smart Life Technology general manager He Bin and School of Economics & Management at Tongji University professor Christiane Prange, each delivered speeches focused on specific themes. The graduates presenting at the ceremony actively participated in the discussions that ensued. With this final event, the Graduation Ceremony came to a successful close.
