Century-old Malvern College, Cradle of Prime Ministers to Open Campus in Xinjin, Chengdu

CHENGDU, China, Feb. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On 2nd February 2018, during a key event of British Prime Minister Theresa May's visit, chaired by Dr. Liam Fox, Secretary of State, UK Department for International Trade, a cooperation agreement was signed between the authorities of Xinjin County, Chengdu and Babylon Education to establish a new and expanded site for Malvern College Chengdu in addition to the existing campus in the city. Boasting numerous Nobel laureates among its alumni, the prestigious and progressive Malvern College plans to expand the Chengdu campus in 2019 and offer classes from kindergarten to senior secondary with high-quality, globalised and holistic education on par with other Malvern schools in Britain, Hong Kong and Qingdao.

British Prime Minister Theresa May's official visit to China took place from 31st January to 2nd February 2018, where she co-hosted the annual meeting with her Chinese counterpart. During the visit, the two countries agreed to cooperate further in political, economic and educational spheres, with education being a major area of common concern. Various collaborative educational initiatives with China have already been announced by the May administration.

Founded in 1865, Malvern College is a renowned British boarding school which provides high-quality education for boys and girls aged from 3 to 18 years. Thanks to its exceptional academic standards and pursuit of holistic education, Malvern College has produced 2 prime ministers (including Najib Razak, the current Malaysian Prime Minister) and 5 Nobel laureates.
