KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) returns for the 9th time to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 17 to 20 October targeting business leads of RM2.5 billion, through the convergence of more than 250 exhibitors and 30,000 expected global visitors from over 35 countries.

Organised by the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) and through Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), IGEM is the region's largest green technology business and innovation platform set to attract key industry players from around the globe to showcase the latest breakthroughs in green technology.

Driven by the rapid growth of ASEAN's green industries, IGEM is well-positioned to enable businesses tapping into its immense potential and continue to cement Malaysia's position as a centre for green technology and generating business leads that have catapulted investment in the green sector.

In 2017 edition, IGEM generated over RM9 billion in business leads attracting over 34,000 visitors from 38 countries including delegates, dignitaries and companies from China, Japan, Korea, the European Union, the United States of America and ASEAN member countries. IGEM 2017 has showcased latest innovations and cutting-edge technologies in renewable energy, sustainable cities and green transport.

IGEM 2018 will focus on sustainable cities highlighting innovations in the five key sectors of green technology, encompassing Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, Waste Technology & Management and Green Manufacturing.

Currently, IGEM 2018 has a confirmed participation from Tokyo Metropolitan, Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) and EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI) for international pavilion. While key solar players such as Jinko Solar, Ditrolic, Hanwa Q Cells, Path Green Plus Solar, First Solar, Gading Kencana together with new exhibitors, Cenviro and Cenergi have all signed up to exhibit at IGEM 2018.

IGEM 2018 will continue to feature the highly popular business matching programmes that have been integral to forging business partnerships during past editions. Supporting agencies are such as MIDA, Matrade, MaGIC, MDV, CradleFund and Malaysian Timber Certification Council. Malaysia Commercialisation Year (MCY) is the government's effort to advance the commercialisation of Research & Development (R&D) output in order to propel the nation's Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) agenda.  This year the MCY@IGEM will continue to recognise local commercialised R&D products and/or technologies. The main components of MCY2018 are MCY Awards 2018, Stargazer Mentoring, Angels on the Plane, Young & Futurist, and Exhibitions which will be in tandem with the IGEM theme "Green Economy & Industry 4.0: Towards Sustainable Development Goals".

"GreenInitiator -- Road to Climate Launchpad 2018", is a collaboration project between GreenTech Malaysia & Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC).  This programme is a platform focusing on facilitation and mentoring of green technology innovation ideas stimulate the growth of local green technology industries and also to promote the best of local technology to the global platform.
