JAKARTA, Indonesia, Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), a government-owned company and also one of the subsidiaries of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) that is engaged in providing EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) services has once again shown its best achievement. Through the Conference of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization (CAFEO-36) from 12 - 14 November 2018 that was held by the Asean Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), Rekind was awarded the ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award 2018 for the Project Category. This award is a prestigious acknowledgement from AFEO for the achievement and innovation of Rekind in engineering projects in the ASEAN region.

"We highly support and appreciate this ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award 2018 as it has contribution to drive the growth and performance of Rekind as a State-Owned Business Enterprise by practicing good corporate governance, highly competitive human resource management, and maximum corporate real contribution to the society," said the President Director of Rekind, Yanuar Budinorman.

Yanuar asserts that the company has won the award in 2018 through the selection conducted by the Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) on the innovation of Rekind in the EPCC Project - Total Geothermal Project of Kamojang-5 1x35 MW (KMJ5). The tender for the project in 2012 was an international tender participated by four foreign contractors. The tender was begun in the fourth quarter of 2012 through technical and commercial evaluation processes. The consortium of Rekind - Sumitomo Corporation (SC) was announced as the winner of the tender in mid-2013. "In the Geothermal Power Plant Project (PLTP) of Kamojang-5, Rekind was trusted as the consortium-leader with Sumitomo Corporation as the consortium-member. This scheme is the first of its kind in Indonesia, where the construction was directed by a national company," he asserted.

The PLTP Project of Kamojang-5 is one of the government programs for acceleration of energy development, especially in the field of renewable new energy. The coordination is directly under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Director General of Renewable New Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE). And the project itself is intended to increase the role of geothermal as the national energy security.

This project, which is situated in the same location as PLTP Kamojang-4, applies the method of gantry crane installation technology and sliding method for the installation of the main equipment of heavy lift category, as it had to be installed in the power house building that had been finished as per the schedule. Meanwhile, for the stage of the Fluid Collection and Reinjection System (FCRS) steam pipe testing, the method of Initial Service Test (IST) was chosen as the alternative Hydraulic Test at the FCRS pipeline to reduce cost and time. By means of IST method, the pipe testing stage could be finished within one day, much faster than the Hydraulic Test method that might last for one month.

"Therefore, this project could be finished one month earlier than the target in the contract. Innovation in the field of renewable new energy such as this is the manifestation of Rekind in developing its business transformation through internal strengthening of the organization and market development in the field of energy," said Yanuar proudly.
