JAKARTA, Indonesia, Dec. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), a subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) which provides EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commission) services, is again entrusted with the task of accomplishing the state's order through PT Pertamina (Persero).
The conferring of this order is marked by signing a "Contract between PT Pertamina (Persero) and Joint Operation (JO) for Balikpapan RDMP ISBL-OSBL EPC project". The contract signing took place at PT Pertamina Principal Office Jl. Medan Merdeka Timur 1A, Central Jakarta, December 10, 2018.
Rekind, which is joined in the JO with three large EPC and infrastructure companies, was appointed winning the tender EPC Inside Battery limit (ISBL) and Outside Battery Limit (OSBL) for RDMP Project RU-V Balikpapan.
"We are very proud of the trust given by PT Pertamina to take part in government programs in realizing Energy Resilience in Indonesia. As our appreciation for this trust, we commit to give the best through various innovations to provide optimal benefits for the country," said President Director of Rekind, Yanuar Budi Norman.
In the EPC Inside Battery Limit (ISBL) and Outside Battery Limit (OSBL) projects of the RU-V Balikpapan RDMP, JO work is focused on a several areas. These include processing residues (low value products) into high quality fuel, improving the quality of diesel fuel by reducing sulfur content to make it more environmentally friendly. These also include improving the quality of gasoline to be more environmentally friendly as well as producing high-octane fuel oil (BBM).
Receiving such a huge trust from the state is not the first time for Rekind since it had previously been involved in developing refineries in Indonesia. Rekind also took part in development of the first unleaded oil processing facility in Indonesia through the Blue Sky Balongan Project in Balongan Refinery, West Java. This set another milestone that Indonesia no longer needs to import non-subsidized oil fuels.
Rekind worked on Pertamina's Residue Catalytic Cracking Off gas to Propylene Project (ROPP) in the Balongan Refinery Plant in 2008. In this project, unused exhaust gas from oil refinery is converted to high-valued propylene (plastic raw material). In addition to reducing more than 50% of imports of national plastic raw materials, the ROPP has also given positive impact on economic activities because since then Indonesia had the world's first RCC Offgas to Propylene Technology. This project revives the petrochemical industry, namely polypropylene and other derivatives.
Previously in 2016, Rekind was also appointed by Pertamina to carry out the development of Subsea Pipeline -- Subsea Pipeline and Single Point Moring (SPM) piping for the RU VI Balongan Refinery. SPM is a floating offshore facility to moor storage vessels and also to flow oil from or to moored vessels. In 2007 Rekind also involved in initial installation of Revamp Residual Catalytic Cracking (RCC) Production Unit in Balongan Refinery Unit(RU) VI owned by Pertamina.
