BANGKOK, March 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Tezos Southeast Asia ("TSA") will be working with Chulalongkorn University to create the nation's premier blockchain education and research programme. This partnership follows Elevated Returns' ("ER"), a New York-based financial group focused on digitizing traditional financial assets, announcement to partner with Thai financial services firm Seamico Securities Plc ("ZMICO") to use blockchain platform Tezos to expand into Thailand.
ER plans to digitally securitised the global real estate market, targeting US$250 million in transactions this year, with US$100 million in Thailand alone. The partnership will allow ER and ZMICO to digitize traditional assets using the Tezos platform, through a Thai Securities and Exchange Commission approved portal, and will enable multiple parties the ability to share in the ownership of high-value assets. This approach will let investors access investment opportunities that have previously been beyond their financial reach and introduce a regulated method for raising money via digital securities.
The Tezos platform, built specifically for administering smart contracts, allows ER to issue fully compliant real estate securities. This partnership is a good opportunity to showcase how the core merits of Tezos' technology can be readily integrated into a real world business case. The accomplishment of this expected collaboration will bring about deep economic and social impact, and also position Thailand as a major regional center for blockchain.
TSA will further augment ongoing efforts by ER, Securitize and ZMICO to facilitate technology knowhow transfer, starting with this strategic partnership to build local capability in Thailand through renowned Chulalongkorn University. In addition to expanding its business in the Thai market, ER also aims to build a sustainable support network for the blockchain ecosystem through this partnership.
TSA will work with Chulalongkorn University to specially design the curriculum for new programmes to be launched in the academic year 2019. TSA endeavours to create awareness and an accurate understanding of Tezos as well as advanced computer science technologies. In addition to scholarship opportunities, students will also get the chance to apply for internships at start-ups supported by tzVentures, a Tezos-specific incubator programme for start-ups to develop their business on the Tezos blockchain technology.
The implementation of a curriculum targeted at education and research aspects of advanced computer science technologies, like the ones used by the Tezos blockchain, is crucial for Thailand's campaign towards an economy driven by innovation, technology and creativity, as part of their Thailand 4.0 vision. On their agenda is the reformation of the Thai education and research system which recognises the importance of universities as the foundation of the development of technology and innovation.
"As Thailand strives towards an innovation-driven economy, there is a necessity to empower future generations in Thailand to equip them for the future. TSA aims to support this with the curriculum developed together with Chulalongkorn University and pioneer the blockchain ecosystem in the region," said Caleb Kow, President, Tezos Southeast Asia.
The syllabus will be designed to introduce students to the concepts and fundamentals of advanced computer science, with a focus on Tezos blockchain technology. Upon completion, students will acquire the skillset required to create advanced applications running on the Tezos blockchain, along with a deeper understanding of the Tezos blockchain technology. TSA aims to build local capability in Thailand so that innovation can take place in a localised manner, adapting to unique business cases specific to the Thai market.
