Hong Kong Financial Secretary Visits Xiao-i's Asia-Pacific Headquarters

HONG KONG, May 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Mr. Paul Chan Mo-po, GBM, GBS, MH, JP, yesterday visited the Asia-Pacific Headquarters of Shanghai Xiaoi Robot Technology Co. Ltd ("Xiao-i" or "the Company"), a leading developer of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and industry application platforms.

Mr. Paul Chan and Mr. Max Yuan, Xiao-i's Founder and Chairman, discussed Hong Kong's AI development and the application of the technology across sectors. The Financial Secretary also toured Xiao-i's AI+ Experience Center, where he was introduced to the Company's latest developments in the areas of finance, smart city and healthcare. Mr. Yuan urged the government to speed up Hong Kong's smart city and fintech development in order to create more opportunities for technology companies and talent in the public and private sectors.

Xiao-i is an industry leader in driving AI applications across verticals. It provides smart customer service solutions for more than 1,000 large enterprises and government organizations in mainland China using core technologies such as natural language processing, deep semantic interaction, image and voice recognition, big data and machine learning. In recent years, the Company has expanded its solutions to smart finance and has been actively participating in smart city development. It also plans to extend its AI solutions to the localized development of smart education in the future.

Xiao-i established a joint lab with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in March this year, with an emphasis on consolidating efforts from the industry, as well as from academic and research institutions, to advance machine learning and cognitive reasoning. The research findings will be applied in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and across the rest of Asia-Pacific, as well as in other global markets. Xiao-i also plans to invest more than RMB100 million to develop Cantonese natural language processing capabilities, multi-language conversational AI products, and other commercial solutions for international customers.
