Lingnan culture attracts new fans in South Korea

SEOUL, South Korea, June 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2019 Charming China-Guangdong Culture Week was launched in Seoul, South Korea on June 9th, according to Nanfang Media Group which is a media partner of the event. 

Co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Government Information Office and Guangdong Culture and Tourism Department, the event is about to bring a series of cultural activities such as music performances and cultural exhibitions, aiming to give the local audiences the authentic experience of Chinese culture and Lingnan culture in the following week.

Fu Hua, Director General of Guangdong Publicity Department, attended the opening ceremony and said China and South Korea share lots of common topics when it comes to culture and tradition, and have a long history of friendly exchanges. "We hope we could showcase the charm of Guangdong's Lingnan culture through this year's culture week and strengthen the cultural exchanges between South Korea and Guangdong.

Fu added Guangdong is putting great efforts in pushing forward the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area and making the province's business environment more open to the world, which will definitely bring new opportunities to cooperation between the two regions.

Wang Luxin, minister counselor of the Chinese Embassy in South Korea, said Guangdong is a pilot province of reform and opening-up and leading in economic development. "Guangdong owns highly complementary industries and have close cooperation with South Korea," he said. "I hope this event could further display the beauty of Guangdong's culture and development, and deepen the communication between Guangdong and Korea."

At the opening ceremony, Guangdong Provincial Publishing Group signed agreements respectively with the Literature and Intellectual Publishing House, the South Korea Random House and the UU Publishing House.

During the opening ceremony, the guests also attended a series of events of the culture week including the book exhibition, the Sino-Korea women artists' painting exhibition and the Guangdong's intangible culture exhibition.
