HONG KONG, Sept. 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Organised by Hong Kong Arts Development Council and curated with Youth Square, 'Creative+ Arts Day Camp 2020' has been successfully held in August this year with enthusiastic response that over 190 students from 'The Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme' have shared the joy of arts together. In view of the pandemic, workshops have been conducted via webinar to allow students learnt how arts and five senses relate to the environment at home in order to widen their horizon in arts.
With the theme of five senses this year, 'Creative+ Arts Day Camp 2020' has invited five arts organisations from different fields including 'Toolbox Percussion', a percussion band, 'Ting Arts Studio', a diversified arts studio, 'Joduchoho', an aromatic experience studio, 'Hong Kong Five Senses Education Experimental Theatre', a sensory immersive theatre for infants and 'Dyelicious', a food-waste dyeing workshop, to design five experimental workshops for five senses including hearing, vision, smell, sensation and taste. Using the surroundings and objects in our daily lives to do some experiments and activities, the five arts organisations not only helped student to enhance different aspects such as notice, analysis, create and practice, but also increased their interest in arts and motivated them to apply what they have learnt in their daily lives.
Youth Square has been providing a relaxed, reliable and safe environment for youth to explore every possibility of their potentials. Adopting the guiding principles of 6G model (Groom, Grow, Glow, Green, Global Vision and Give Back) continuously, Youth Square hopes to nurture the interest of youth in arts by providing arts education through 'Creative+ Arts Day Camp 2020' as well as share the joy of arts creativity with students who joined a series of diversified and excited arts experience at home during the pandemic.

In the vision workshop, students learnt some basic skills of modern ink painting and traditional ink painting, to create an ink painting patchwork with different effects and textures.

Students learnt to make a sachet bag and a mosquito repellent bag in the smell workshop which delivered the scents of Chai Wan to each student's home.

Tutor of 'Hong Kong Five Senses Theatre' taught students to express their feelings by touching different objects at home, students are also required to improvise one-man shows to tell their stories.

'Dyelicious', a food-waste dyeing workshop introduced tie-dye experience with the theme of natural food colours, allowed students to experience the fun of creating tie-dye fabrics by using food waste.
Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme
The Hong Kong Arts Development Council introduced the Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme in 2008. It invites local primary, secondary and special schools to nominate students with artistic talents and a flair for the arts to be the arts ambassadors for their schools. Arts ambassadors are encouraged to take part in various arts activities to demonstrate their artistic talents and to share the joy of artistic creation in order to live out the cooperative spirit of "Live in Art, Thrive in Sharing".
Youth Square
The Youth Square, which came into full operation in 2010, is a youth development project of the Home Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government, with an aim to be the hub of diversified youth development activities for youth to develop their potential. Youth Square facilities include the 643-seat Y Theatre, Y Studio, multi-function areas and the Y Loft which has 148 guest rooms. Youth Square has been conducting events under three themes, include "Music & Dance", "Arts & Culture" and "Community Engagement". Approaching the 10-year mark, Youth Square has been holding over 11,000 youth events and served for more than 5 million participants. In addition, Y Loft has been providing accommodations for local and overseas youths from more than 80 countries or regions, who participated in various exchange programmes in Hong Kong. Y Loft is conveniently located, 3-minute walk from Chai Wan MTR Station. The 148-room Y Loft is located in Youth Square's Main Block and Hostel Block. Room selection includes Twin, Twin Room with Balcony, Triple, House of Six, Duplex and Accessible Rooms.
