Ya-qin Zhang: The Future Trend of Internet Is AI
As the guests start off the conference, Ya-qin Zhang, President of Baidu, and Takeshi Natsuno, Professor at Keio University, & GWC Japanese CEO conducted a dialogue.
In the dialogue, Ya-qin Zhang expounded on the huge advantage of the mobile payment in China compared with other countries and as to why. He stated the fact that the Chinese infrastructure in payment lagged behind relatively and in turn promoted the development of mobile payment.
At the conference, Ya-qin Zhang also elaborated on the development phase and trend of Internet. He said that all we did in the past three decades is digitalizing real actions. But we would probably reverse such practice in the coming three decades, which would have the following results:
David Zhang: 70% of My Success is Luck, with Focus being the Key
At the conference, David Zhang, Founding Managing Partner of Matrix Partners China participated in a dialogue with Akio Tanaka, Co-founder & Managing Partner of IVP.
When talking about his success in investment, David Zhang confessed that 70% of his success was luck, but the first key was focus. Matrix Partner focused on the TMT field. On the other hand, finding a promising enterprise is also an important factor and investing in a newly founded enterprise is essential. Thirdly, it's necessary to have a correct value system where they don't use "from up to down" directive method for managing the enterprises to be invested in.
He believed that Japanese companies, who wanted to succeed in China, should be patient in the middle to long run and look for reliable partners.
Masuno Shunmyo: Put Down the Mobile Phone, Don't be Enslaved by It
Masuno Shunmyo, Zen Monk-Landscape Designer of Kenkohji made the keynote speech of Zen and Network Society and carried out a fireside chat with Chu Wen, Founder and Co-CEO of GWC, sharing his reflections on "Creating a Landscape and Pursuing Religious Practices Together ".
In view of the current rapid development of mobile Internet and the fast-paced life of people, Masuno Shunmyo suggests that everybody puts down their mobile phones. He believes that people should use mobile phones to improve efficiency, but not to be enslaved by it.
He expressed his idea that people should experience meditation in person and practice it. The process was called "shape". During this process of "shape", it is important to concentrate at every moment, for example, at the time of eating, concentrate on eating, and at the time of drinking tea, concentrate on drinking tea. Doing so could help understand the truth of things.
Koki Kimura: Enter the Chinese Market to Popularize Face-to-face Game
Koki Kimura, Director & GM of the XFLAG Studio, Mixi Inc., The largest social media website in Japan, stated that they had created successful games such as Monster Strike. As for how to enter the Chinese market, they once tried marching into it and partnered with Chinese companies who had extensive online resources.
However, this time they planned to enter the Chinese market in the form of face-to-face games which has been popular in Japan, Monster Pocket was one of them.
He believed that the face-to-face playing culture must exist in China, because there was such a custom in China. For example, playing Mahjong or eating together when the whole family got together. Another example was Tai Chi, which was more playful when people did it together than when one did it alone. Thus, he was convinced that there was a market for such a face-to-face game.
In the afternoon, Yamada Toshio, CEO of a Japanese creative E-Commerce company, LIFESTYLE ACCENT gave the first speech and shared how he made clothing into a creative E-Commerce. From the beginning, he invited talents from famous companies such as Hermes and Chanel to join his team and only carried out online sales. In addition, they cooperated with factories in small towns, used the prices decided by the factories, and had the factories write to customers after shipments. Moreover, they opened the factories to customer visit, and the messages left by customers became the motivation to employees.
Gurpreet Singh, Vice President of GWC and Siddharth Puri, CEO of India Tyroo Company discussed the market value of India. They stated that investment in India was very hot at the moment. Shumian He, CIO of Property Agent Inc., Sei Nakanishi, President and CEO of Property Agent Inc. and Feng Jiang, Editor in Chief of Japanese Monthly of Overseas Edition of People's Daily in Japan New Overseas Chinese Newspress jointly discussed the topic of big data induced improvement on the efficiency of agency information in Japanese real estate industry such as house leasing and selling.
Alex Farfurnik, Chairman of Shenzhen Tianxi Power E-Commerce Co., Ltd and Yoshida Kosuke, Executive Vice President of OPT Holding, Inc. jointly discussed the future and the transformation of cross-border E-Commerce. Alex Farfurnik analyzed the difference between the Chinese E-Commerce market and that of other countries. He believed that various costs in the Chinese E-Commerce market, including publicity, promotion, and platform expenses were higher than those of other countries and that many American, European, and Japanese enterprises did not fully understand these costs before entering the Chinese market.
Haiyin Shen, Co-founder and CEO of Zhiche Auto delivered a speech with a theme of Automatic Drive under Internet of Everything. He believed that the future intelligence of automobiles included 3 aspects, the automobile intelligence, the intelligence of the use of automobile and the connection of automobile intelligence and human intelligence.
As one of the most important events of GMIC, G-Startup is an important innovative platform for startups. Over the past five years, the competition has brought out over ten outstanding startup companies such as Didi Chuxing and SnapPea. During today's G-Startup, eight contestants went through the final stage of presenting their startups, where a panel of judges decided that Pulzze Systems, Inc. (researching and developing infrastructure products of internet of Things to make any connected device and system able to carry out matched operation without programming), TravelFlan (artificial intelligence travel managing service based on text) and InnaMed (a door leading to personal medical health, researching and developing special family medical equipment, measuring and tracking main health indexes, and giving professional suggestions ) respectively came in top three and obtained investment prizes. In the end, Chu Wen, Founder and Co-CEO of GWC gave the closing speech. He talked around the theme "Dao of Japanese Enterprises with Long History", inspired by his visit to Japanese masters during the GASA trip that he and other Chinese top entrepreneurs had taken this week. He said that with so many enterprises with long history existing in Japan, he realized the following key words for the "Dao":
"Plain" - simplicity: when introducing the idea of MUJI, Matsuzaki Satoru, CEO of MUJI mentioned that MUJI returned to simplicity in the process of brand management, with simplicity and practicality being the core idea of the brand;
"Empty": Hara Kenya, Chief Designer of MUJI mentioned this word when explaining the design of MUJI;
"Drying": Masuno Shunmyo, Zen Monk & Landscape Designer of Kenkohji Zen Temple mentioned this word when explaining his design. It means "minimizing slowly, and minimizing until simplicity was reached";
"Concentration": Inaba Yoshiharu, Chairman of FUNAC Corporation mentioned this word. Although FUNAC is already the largest company in mechanical robotics field, they would still concentrate on doing well in mechanical robotics in the foreseeable future. They won't engage in artificial intelligence because artificial intelligence is flourishing. They would probably carry out research and analysis on artificial intelligence, however at present they concentrate on how to continue doing well in mechanical robotics.
"Conforming": the CEO of Furukawa Electric, a company with a history of over 100 years, expressed that the success of Furukawa Electric mainly relied on launching products according to the market trends of the time and surrounding the essential company business "Metal".
