Nominations Open for PublicAffairsAsia Gold Standard Awards 2016

HONG KONG, Aug. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nominations for The 2016 Gold Standard Awards are now open, with additional categories, an expanded judging panel and new sponsors headlining this year.

The awards, now in their eighth year, are unrivalled in Asia Pacific, with peer-on-peer judging in 17 categories covering all aspects of communications, public affairs and stakeholder engagement across agencies, corporations, government and the not-for-profit sector.

Entries to the programme, which is operated by PublicAffairsAsia, will be judged by an expert panel of nearly 80 frontline practitioners drawn from communications, government relations, public bodies and the media.

Awards Chairman Penny Burtt, who is Vice President of Government Affairs, Asia Pacific, at VISA, said: "Having served as a judge in the Gold Standard Awards for the past three years, I am passionate about the opportunity the awards offer to the public affairs community in Asia to share the very best of our efforts. Among the line-up of categories is a new award for corporate communications, three awards for corporate citizenship, along with categories covering issues ranging from financial communications to crisis and issues management. Awards will also be issued in areas including government relations, public-private partnership, digital communications and employee engagement.

High profile awards include The Prospect Gold Standard Award for Professional Excellence, The Gold Standard Award for Policy-Maker of the Year and The Gold Standard Award for Communicator of the Year.

The "gold standard" achievements of Asia Pacific's fast-growing agency sector will be recognised across all categories, in addition to specific agency awards for regional, specialist and in country consultancy. An additional category of new consultancy of the year, for agencies launched in the last three years, is also added to the line-up.

For a sixth year, in conjunction with 21st Century Fox, the programme will identify an embassy or ambassador for their achievements in engaging with corporations and industry bodies in pursuit of trade or cultural advance.

Among a high profile line up of sponsoring organisations and partners include new sponsors Ruder Finn Asiaand Ryan Communication. Nominations for this prestigious programme opened on August 1 and entries must be lodged by September 30. The shortlist will be announced on November 4 and awards will be presented at the annual gala Gold Standard Awards cocktail reception held at The Foreign Correspondents' Club in Hong Kong on December 1.
