HONG KONG, Dec.12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Traditional Conference and Awards Ceremony of Great Place to Work® Institute in Greater China was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Hong Kong, on December 8th. It marked their 5th anniversary!
For the Conference, the theme was focused on the 'attraction, retention and development of talent'. The overall discussion was around: Where is the talent? It was mentioned as the daily challenge for management and HR today. They need talent to better run their business and outperform their competitors. "At the Great Place to Work® 2016 Conference, we confronted the typical idea that the talent is out there; it may be; but we asked: what if it's actually IN there, but you haven't noticed? It's lost in the labyrinth of a confusing, inconsistent workplace culture that is not encouraging people to give their personal best." said Jose Bezanilla, CEO of Great Place to Work® in Greater China.
During this very exclusive event, the speakers were a group of 10 very talented people: full of knowledge, successful cases and testimonials around managing great cultures and talent. They inspired the whole audience.
The conference was a great opportunity for sharing and networking. Around 120 people attended the event: CEOs, VPs, HR directors and even some of the world's best multinationals were sharing how they handle this challenge. "Talent management should be among the best practices that companies need to embrace as part of the new global initiatives of the company, we're aiming to approach the market more aggressively and encourage many more companies to engage in what we think is an inescapable initiative nowadays" said Denzel Xin, in charge of research for the Greater China team. Another great take-away was that "if you want to maintain your market leadership, if you want to reach it, if you want to break ground, then you should ask yourself if your corporate culture is really helping you to discover and develop talent." said Mirley Perez, Great Place to Work's business development manager for Greater China.
So, talent might be everywhere, but what talent are you looking for? How are you looking for it? How are you fostering it? There are opportunities for all kinds of talent. A great workplace should be for all!
Great Place to Work's 2017 motto, as described by global CEO Michael Bush, is: "we want to make it easier for everybody, and include everybody" (#gptw4all).
Great Place to Work are celebrating the talent management programmes and great cultures in our list of Best Companies to Work For® in Greater China 2016. This year is the fifth anniversary of the list and there was great excitement as 30 companies made it this year. The pool of participating companies keeps on growing: by the deadline this year 137 companies were surveyed; 25 more than in 2015, from a wider variety of industries and more diverse origins, including local Chinese companies.
So, a great deal of exciting news was part of this 5th Awards Ceremony in Greater China. A special celebration was made for the companies that have been in the list for the past 5 years, demonstrating commitment and persistence in offering a great culture for their employees.
