HONG KONG, March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kinnet is hosting two special open days on March 12 and 19 when local residents, family and friends are invited to visit the centre to learn about the range of health and wellness services on offer to older people, while enjoying free activities in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

With activities designed especially for older adults, the open days offer visitors in search of a healthier lifestyle, the opportunity to take advantage of a complimentary one-on-one fitness consultation, active isolated stretch session and access to a fully equipped gymnasium.

Participants will have the chance to explore a wide range of creative arts and workout programmes from Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting to t'ai chi, yoga, funky dance and zumba.

There will also be presentations in Cantonese on subjects specifically affecting the older generation. Dr. J.F. Zhou, Honorary Assistant Professor from The University of Hong Kong School of Chinese Medicine will deliver a talk on "How Acupuncture Practice Can Help You Manage Pain" at 3p.m. on March 12.

Another highlight is an afternoon presentation on March 19 by Dr. Ting Zhao Wei Rose, a specialist in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, who will discuss the "Top 10 Myths About Diabetes."

"These open days are a great opportunity for older members of the community to come along, have a look around, and learn about the health, wellness and social activities offered by The Kinnet," says the centre's Executive Director, Ms. Stephanie Tan.

"Not only can guests experience a broad range of classes and activities for free, but given that these open days are designed to suit all levels of fitness and ability, they are ideal for everyone, even first timers and the less experienced."

Believing that age is no barrier to wellness, Ms. Tan remarks that the events are part of a wider initiative to encourage older people to stay active and healthy, which in turn can lower the risk of more serious conditions later in life such as strokes, heart disease and certain cancers.

During the open days, which will run from 12p.m.6p.m., visitors will receive vouchers for the centre's on-site healthy kitchen, The Restaurant by The Kinnet, enabling them to redeem complimentary juices with daily purchases and a free dessert with dinners over HK$ 300, that are valid until the end of June 2016.

Anyone wishing to enjoy The Kinnet's facilities on a more regular basis will also have the opportunity to sign up for a limited time offer of all-inclusive membership whereby one extra free month will be given for packages of 12 months or more. The offer is available until March 31, 2016.

Guests are required to book in advance with The Kinnet. For more information, please email enquiries@thekinnet.com or call (852) 3968 7600 for details.
